Urdu Poetry
Urdu Poetry (Urdu Shayari) is a part of the culture of Pakistan. Urdu Poetry is understood in many parts of India too. Urdu Poetry’s main types are Ghazals, Nazms, Marsia, Qasida and Rubai. Urdu Language is a mix of languages i.e it has words from Arabic, Persian and Hindi. Urdu Poetry always has some words which are understandable by other language speakers.
Urdu Poetry a way of Communication
Urdu Poetry has been used as indirect source of sending someone a message, that may be a friend , lover, king of the country, General public or any other person.
For example Allama Iqbal(November 9, 1877 – April 21, 1938) used Urdu poetry and Farsi Poetry to send his message to his nation, His poetry is very motivational and inspiring. He used to compare Eagle with his nation’s young generation . His Poetry is read and remembered again and again by his lovers.
Urdu Poetry Poets
There have been some great Urdu poets. Urdu Poetry was first promoted by poets like Ameer Khusro Dehlvi who was a musician too. Later on very influential poets also made a mark in Urdu poetry, these are Mirza Ghalib (Mirza asadullah baig khan), Mir (Mir Taqi Mir) Mir Dard (Khuwaja Mir dard), Dagh (Dagh Dehlvi) Momin (Momin Khan Momin) and many others. Ibn-e-Insha, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ehsan danish, Farhat Abbas shah, Firaaq gorakhpoori, Hafeez Lalandhari, Habeeb Jalib came then and contibuted to urdu poetry. These were the famous most poets of recent past. Some Modern day Poets are Ahmed Faraz, Perveen shakir, Nasir Kazmi, Munir niyazi, Ahmed nadeem qasmi, and many more.
